The AMSEC Guardian Pro 5 (PB5) is a small biometric handgun safe designed for homeowners or drivers who want AMSEC’s Triple-Entry access options: a finger-swipe biometric reader, a 5-digit electronic keypad, or included backup keys. Measuring 11.75 by 10 inches and only 2.75 inches high, it’s made to slide into a nightstand drawer, sit on a closet shelf, tuck into a desk drawer, or mount under a vehicle seat. Its 14-gauge solid-steel housing, dual-latch locking system, and reinforced internal hinges help defend against prying and forced-entry attempts. The safe is also California DOJ approved, meeting the construction and security standards required under Penal Code Section 23655.

Three different unlocking options let you get into the safe fast when it matters, while still giving you dependable fallback access if your main method doesn’t work. AMSEC’s swipe-style biometric scanner can store up to 30 distinct fingerprints, allowing each adult in the home to open it individually without needing to share a combination. As a secondary option, you can enter a custom 5-digit PIN on the top-mounted electronic keypad, which is especially useful when a damp, oily, or dirty finger won’t scan consistently. For true last-resort access, the safe includes two tubular cylinder keys for emergencies like a dead battery or a forgotten code. Once any of the three entry methods authenticates, the top lid automatically raises with a gentle soft-close design to prevent loud slamming in a quiet bedroom, and an integrated LED illuminates the inside so you can retrieve contents with one hand even in low light.

Inside, the storage space measures 10.88 inches wide, 7.50 inches deep, and 2.65 inches high, totaling 0.13 cubic feet. AMSEC rates that capacity for up to two handguns, with room left for one or two spare magazines. The interior is fully lined with protective foam and can be customized, helping prevent finish wear and letting you create fitted cutouts tailored to the exact pistol model you store. The body is constructed from solid 14-gauge steel, a thicker and heavier build than the 18-gauge steel commonly found in many competing quick-access handgun safes in this category. A heavy-duty steel security cable is included to secure the safe to a fixed point—such as a bed frame, drawer brace, or vehicle seat frame—so it can’t be easily carried off and opened elsewhere. For bedside or in-car use, thread the cable through the safe’s anchor point, loop it around a solid structural element, then close and lock the unit with the cable captured inside.
