With a 60 minute fire rating, 3/16" steel plate door and a 12 gauge body, the AMSEC SF7240E5 provides a great value at a fair price!
The 3/16" steel plate door with 3 layers of fire insulating drywall, 2 stage dual fire seals with silicone seal on door jamb and expandable Palusol seal helped the American Security SF7240E5 achieve an ETL verified fire rating of 60 minutes at 1200°. The body consists of 12 gauge solid steel also with fire insulating material.
On the door of the AMSEC SF7240E5 lies Amsec's ESL5 Electronic Lock with Illuminated keypad, protected by a drill resistant hard plate with external spring-loaded re-locking device. An optional Group II combination lock is also available.
Once the correct combination is entered into the AMSEC SF7240E5, the ultra smooth cam driven locking mechanism with increased handle rotation assists the 3-point tri-spoke handle in retracting the bolts. The slip clutch feature provides additional security in preventing excessive torque being used to retract the bolts during attempted break-in.
With 4-way boltwork and 14 massive 1 ½" chrome-plated locking bolts along with 5 deadbolts, you get security in a total of 14 bolts.
The textured black finish and plush gray fabric interior provide a look to match the quality of the safe. The included premium door organizer maximizes storage space and offers quick access to your handguns, passports, important documents and other small valuables.
With four pre-cut anchor holes and mounting hardware included, you'll have no problem securing this safe and with American Security's "No Cost" Lifetime Warranty against theft and fire, you can feel safe knowing your valuables are locked inside the AMSEC SF 7240E5.

After talking with the guys at Dean Safe, I decided on the SF series from AMSEC because it exactly fit my list of needs. The SF7240 was the biggest unit I could fit in my space and still meet my budget. Everything in the safe is nicely finished and the interior fit is very flexible - the premium door panel is fantastic!
Configuration is very easy, and I plan on adding some MOLLE panels for additional options. Three metal shelf covers are included, along with a couple of thick standard shelves. The covers are there to close up a pass-through for longer rifles and shotguns. The fabric inside is an industrial upholstery with a tight weave.
I'm impressed with the door balance and friction, and the upgraded mechanical lock is smooth and solid. The bolts are smooth and secure, and the handle has no wobble or rattle to it (a little play is necessary; I'm talking about the slop you get on some low-quality safes - there is none of that here). It only takes a little pressure on the door to seal up due to the gasket.
I installed a mylar back and LED strips for visibility, which required completing the electrical pass-through (about 20m total effort start to finish).
After all of this, however, the reason I chose this safe was because of the customer service. Any questions I had were answered directly and accurately, without any marketing spiel or buzz words, and I did not feel rushed at all. This was an extremely easy decision, and I'm very happy with the results.
